Mechanical Engineering and Non Destructive Testing Laboratory

The Mechanical Engineering and Non destructive testing laboratories were set up to ensure quality and safety of a large variety of products.

The Mechanical Engineering Laboratory carries out testing of metals, wire ropes, slings, chains, steel bars for the reinforcement of concrete, steel welded mesh, and welds among others. The tests performed are Dimensional, Yield, Tensile, Shear, Elongation, Bend, Rebend, Impact, Hardness, pull out and Macro examination.

The Non Destructive Testing Laboratory (NDT) carries out the following tests Radiographic Testing (in lab), Magnetic Particle testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Liquid Penetrant Testing, Ultrasonic Thickness Test, Galvanisation coating and Paint coating Thickness. The laboratory also carries out Technical Investigation on Liquid Petroleum Gas Regulators, Outboard Motors, Lifts and Scaffoldings.

Accreditation:
The Mechanical Engineering Laboratory is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 to carry out testing of steel bars, steel wires and on steel fabric for the reinforcement of concrete.

Proficiency Testing:
Proficiency tests are carried out on a regular basis with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) ASTM International, 100 Barr Harbor Drive, PO Box C700, West Conshohocken, PA, 19428-2959 USA.
