The role of each of each laboratory is to provide: 
• specialised testing services, on a contract or ad-hoc basis, to any interested party .
• technical advice and guidance to Regulatory Bodies and the public in general.
• technical input and advice to the Standards Development unit for the formulation of Mauritian Standards.
• assessment resources to the Quality Assurance Unit.
