Introduction to WTO TBT NEP

A country becomes member with the WTO by signing the WTO Agreement and accepts to follow certain obligations. One of which is to create National Enquiry Points. The Mauritius Standards Bureau is the designated NEP for WTO TBT matters. As the WTO TBT NEP, the DIC is responsible for the dissemination of information on draft technical regulations, both domestic and foreign. Foreign notifications are retrieved from the WTO website and circulated to concerned parties in Mauritius for review and comments within the time frame. Any comments received are channeled to the countries emanating these proposals for further consideration.
