MSB shares its learning curve with Botswana Bureau of Standards

JULY 2012 E-NEWS

MSB shares its learning curve with Botswana Bureau of Standards

Mr B Guness,
Head of Standards Development Unit
Ms Malebo Seoke, Manager Scientific Standards and Mr Thabo Tlhomelang, Principal Standards Engineer (Technical Editing) from the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) were on training attachment at MSB from 19 to 23 March 2012 with a view to getting acquainted with the structure, systems, procedures and processes for standards development activities in Mauritius.  During their short attachment, Ms Seoke and Mr Thabo participated in the works of several standards and technical committees.  It was an opportunity for our visitors to obtain first-hand insight in the formulation of Mauritian Standards and to familiarize themselves with TC works.

MSB and BOBS share the same vision of leveraging standardization to boost the economic and social development of the nation.  Both organizations play a prominent role in regional and international standardization activities.  To this end, it was obvious for the two organizations to come together and share their respective experiences.  It was also a step in the right direction for MSB to pursue its strategic intent of framing an increasingly outward focus.

Mr Thabo was highly satisfied of his experience at MSB which he termed as “fruitful”.  He lauded the efforts of MSB in materializing the training arrangements at such short notice.  At the wrap-up meeting, Mr B Guness, Head of Standards Development Unit, acknowledged the importance of training attachments between national standards bodies as a means to facilitate knowledge acquisition and sharing.
