Communiqué of accreditation

Date: June 24, 2019

The Mauritius Standards Bureau wishes to inform its esteemed clients that the Bureau has voluntarily withdrawn its accreditation to ISO 17025:2005 from the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).
We would like to draw your attention that the Chemical Unit of the Bureau was accredited by our National Accreditation Body, Mauritius Accreditation Services (MAURITAS) since 2009. During the course of our accreditation, the need to seek accreditation with an ILAC MRA recognised accreditation body was felt as our National Accreditation Body did not had this recognition and this was also a requirement of our clients. Hence upon approval of MAURITAS, the Bureau had turned to accreditation with SANAS in 2015.
Since October 2018, MAURITAS has become an ILAC MRA signatory after a full evaluation process by the African Accreditation Corporation (AFRAC) on behalf of ILAC and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).  Hence there was no point to continue accreditation with SANAS.
The Bureau has already signed a contract agreement on the use of MAURITAS/ILAC combined mark on 21 March 2019 with MAURITAS. Henceforth, the Bureau will issue test reports of accredited tests with MAURITAS logo only.
